Why Model 1?

Originally founded in 1980, our story began under the name Creative Transportation Systems. In 1990, we became Creative Bus Sales. And in 1993, the Matijevich family became our owners and fearless leaders. To this day, we’re a family-owned and operated company – with all the freedom and flexibility that brings, not only to us but to you, our customers.

What began in 2001 with an expansion to state-wide presence in California has grown into 23 locations nationwide, in all regions of the U.S. The wider our reach, the more we can apply our creativity, passion, and expertise to solving our customers’ challenges – no matter where they’re located.

In 2023 we faced a reality about our company name: Creative Bus Sales had become too limiting. We were already more than buses and more than sales. And we had already begun a legacy of leadership in moving the industry toward electric vehicles and alternative fuels in commercial applications. Model 1 is more than just a new name; it’s a representation of our willingness to go first, to be the blueprint for creative commercial vehicle solutions, and to move the industry into the future.
